Third party contractors reading JPS meters in eastern region

The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) says it has contracted its meter reading services in the eastern region to a third party company as it continues to install smart meters in the build-out of a smart grid.

In a release this morning the JPS said Precision Logistics will begin reading meters in Kingston and St Andrew, St Thomas, Portland and St Mary as of Tuesday, June 6.

The energy company says employees of Precision Logistics will be dressed in yellow shirts and jeans or khaki pants and will carry identification that verifies that they are contracted to carry out meter reading activities on its behalf.

The JPS is reminding customers that JPS employees or contractors who visit their premises should be properly identified and should present IDs on request.

It advises that customers should not hesitate to contact the police if such persons fail to comply.
