The head of the Clarendon Police says prominent business persons are involved in a thriving goat stealing ring which is responsible for the recent upsurge in killings in the parish.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vendolyn Cameron Powell says her team has identified the perpetrators involved and will be moving to arrest them soon.

She explains that an increase in incidents of goat stealing and the owners of the goats seeking revenge are responsible for a number of the killings in recent days.

Speaking yesterday at the monthly Clarendon Inter-Agency Meeting, SSP Cameron Powell said the killing of a woman in St Elizabeth and the subsequent murder of her uncle in New Bowens, Clarendon last week are linked to a goat-stealing ring operating between both parishes.

The head of the Clarendon Police said those killings triggered the double killing in the Monymusk housing scheme, as well as the killing of a man in Salt River and another in Amityville, also in the parish.
