Mandela Highway pipeline broken again

Published:Monday | June 19, 2017 | 12:00 AM

The National Water Commission (NWC) is reporting that another pipeline break has occurred on the 18-inch transmission main along the Mandela Highway, resulting from road works being carried out in the area.

According to the NWC, customers along Washington Boulevard and surrounding areas will experience low pressure, intermittent supply or no water conditions, as it undertakes the necessary repair works in the shortest possible time.

Affected areas include Washington Boulevard and all roads leading off including Cooreville Gardens, sections of Patrick City and Duhaney Park.

This is the third time that the transmission main connecting St Andrew and St Catherine has broken since work started on the highway.

On the two previous occasions there was a continuous flow of water along the highway leading to a major disruption to the traffic flow on the roadway, particularly in peak hours.
