Mayor of Kingston, Senator Delroy Williams, says notices will be issued to businesses in downtown, Kingston which continue to improperly dispose of their garbage.

Mayor Williams says the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation is displeased and disappointed at the practice.

He says the prevalence of littering in the commercial district has to be addressed, noting that littering is a punishable offence.

The Kingston mayor notes that the corporation has spent $40 million on cleaning drains in anticipation of a very active hurricane season.

He says every effort must be made to keep the streets and drains of the Corporate Area clean.
