Two female British nationals were arrested separately on drug charges on the weekend.

The police report that the British nationals were arrested following the seizure of quantities of ganja and cocaine at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James on Saturday and Sunday.

The first female was nabbed by Narcotics Police about 9 Saturday night while in the process of checking in to board a flight destined for Europe.

A suitcase she was carrying was searched and nine tins, some labelled ‘Linstead Market Callaloo’ and others ‘Linstead Market Ackee’, were found to contain cocaine weighing approximately nine pounds.

The second British national, who was also scheduled to board a flight destined for Europe, checked in her luggage which was searched and 25 tins each marked ‘Linstead Market Callaloo’ containing compressed ganja weighing approximately 25 pounds was found.

She, however, failed to board the flight and was subsequently arrested in a sting operation about 11 Sunday morning at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.

The cocaine seized is valued at $4.5 million and the ganja valued at $125,000.

Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.

They will be interviewed in the presence of their attorneys before formal charges are laid.
