Police pull permit for JCDC street dance in Granville

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) has been forced to cancel emancipation celebrations in Granville, St James, because of an increase in violence in the community.

The JCDC says the Police have withdrawn its permit for the staging of a street dance in the community that was scheduled for tomorrow.

The agency says the police cited the upsurge in shootings in the community this week as the reason for the move.

The JCDC says it regrets the inconvenience.
