The Meteorological Service of Jamaica is reporting that yesterday, Thursday, was the hottest day in Kingston in 24 years.
Maximum temperature at the Norman Manley International Airport was 36.9 degrees Celsius.
In June the Met Service had indicated that predictions are for Jamaica to experience higher than normal temperatures from June to August.
It said then that maximum daytime temperatures in Jamaica have been seeing a steady increase.
Jamaicans are encouraged to take the relevant steps to maintain hydration by regularly drinking water, particularly if involved in strenuous outdoor activities.
