Five men escape Ocho Rios lock-up

The police are seeking the public’s assistance in recapturing of five prisoners who escaped from the lock-up in Ocho Rios, St Ann on Friday.

The escapees are:

* Nicholas Massop, 21-year-old of 66 Main Street, Pineapple, Ocho Rios, St Ann. Massop is wanted for Murder, Shooting with Intent, Illegal Possession of Firearm. He is believed to frequent Boscobel, St Mary and Spanish Town, St Catherine.

* Gary Ferguson, 48-year-old of Dunsville, St Ann. Ferguson is wanted Unlawful Possession of Property. He is believed to be frequently in the parish St Mary.

* Renardo Williams, 26-year-old of Top Milford, Ocho Rios, St Ann. Renardo is wanted for Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition. He is believed to frequent the Ocho Rios area.

* David Anderson, 29-year-old of Drax Hall, St Ann. Anderson is wanted for Rape other offences. He is frequently in Drax Hall, St Ann’s Bay.

* Leroy Laud, 61-year-old of Paggee, Port Maria, St Mary. He is wanted for Illegal Possession of Firearm. Laud is believed to be frequently in Paggee, St Mary.

The police say about 4 a.m., a team of officers were conducting a routine cell check exercise, when they saw the ventilation grill in the ceiling cut and the prisoners gone.

The police is urging the men to turn themselves in and are reminding family members and residents that it is an offence to harbour a criminal.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Nicholas Massop, Gary Ferguson, Renardo Williams, David Anderson and Leroy Laud is being asked to contact the Ocho Rios Police at 974-2533, 119, Crime Stop at 311, 811 or the nearest Police Station.
