Following protests by several bus operators the Transport Authority has decided to postpone indefinitely, the announced changes which would have seen rural stage carriage operators from Manchester, St Elizabeth, Westmoreland and St Catherine terminating at the Downtown Municipal Transport Centre, Water Lane.

According to the Transport Authority licenses that were amended to reflect the proposed change will be recalled to facilitate the necessary amendments and reprinting.

The Transport Authority said it is committed to continuing the dialogue with all the stakeholders to ensure an orderly, disciplined and respected transport sector.

Last month several bus operators pleaded with Transport Minister, Mike Henry, to have the Transport Authority to rethink its decision to force them to terminate at the Water Lane facility.

The bus operators said they would not use the facility as instructed as ‘loadermen’ threatened them against doing so.
