One of the five men who escaped from the Ocho Rios police lock-up in St Ann yesterday has been recaptured.

He is 48-year-old Gary Ferguson of Dunsville district in St Ann, who was arrested for unlawful possession of property.

The police say Ferguson was found in a hut in the St Ann community of Content Gardens, hours after his escape.

Those still on the run are 21-year-old Nicholas Massop, who is wanted for murder, shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm; 26-year-old Renardo Williams and 61-year-old Leroy Laud, who are both wanted for illegal possession of firearm as well as 29-year-old David Anderson, who is wanted for rape.

It’s reported that police personnel at the station were conducting a routine cell check when they discovered that the ventilation grille in the ceiling had been cut and the prisoners were gone.

The police are appealing to the men to turn themselves in and are reminding family members and residents that it is an offence to harbour a criminal.

They are asking anyone with information on the men’s whereabouts to contact the Ocho Rios Police at 974-2533, police emergency number119, Crime Stop at 311 or the nearest police station.
