PNP shocked, saddened by passing of MP Winston Green

The People's National Party (PNP) has released a statement expressing shock at the passing of St Mary South East Member of Parliament Dr Winston Green.

PNP president Dr Peter Phillips said the death was untimely. 

Green died early this morning at the Andrews Memorial Hospital after collapsing at home.  

"Dr Green committed his life professionally and politically to serving the Jamaican people. He was a dedicated servant of the people and a man faithful to his commitment to his family, his profession, his constituents and his party," Phillips said. 

The Opposition Leader said over the past weekend, Green spent long hours in his constituency hosting a back-to-school dental clinic, providing dental reports for students in St Mary at no cost.

"Jamaica has lost a great son. Our heartfelt condolences to his children Ashley and Wade, his family, friends and colleagues. He will be truly missed," Dr. Phillips said.

Speaking this morning on Independent Talk, Robert Morgan, the director of communications in the Office of the Prime Minister said the death has also shocked Prime Minister Andrew Holness.

Morgan has expressed condolences to Green's family.

*Originally from Nannyville, St Andrew
*Was trained in dentistry in Cuba in the 1980s. 
*Had a passion for community development and working with Jamaicans
*Was a member of Parliament's Public Administration and Appropriation Committee.
