Horace Levy ... until Commissioner Quallo explicitly withdraws the report of the JCF administrative review committee and recall ACP Graham his claim of accepting the Tivoli Commission of Enquiry recommendations will appear insincere.

Human rights group Jamaicans for Justice (JFJ) has joined in demanding further action from the police commissioner in responding to the report of the West Kingston Commission of Enquiry.

In a statement on the weekend, Commissioner George Quallo said he has accepted the recommendations of the Commission and has since sent to the Police Service Commission, the report of the Jamaica Constabulary Force administrative review panel.

Earlier, the Commissioner was backing the administrative review panel report which had cleared five cops who were called out in the Enquiry report for wrongdoing.

Speaking with The Gleaner/Power 106 News this morning, JFJ executive director Horace Levy said Commissioner Quallo needs to withdraw the report of the review panel and recall the appointment of Assistant Commissioner of Police Donovan Graham as head of the Area One Police Division.

Important for Mr Levy too, is the need for the police commissioner to state whether he accepts the Enquiry's recommendation for the police force to move away from paramilitary type policing and focus more on community policing.

The JFJ executive director says until Commissioner Quallo explicitly withdraws the report of the JCF administrative review committee and recall ACP Graham from his current post, then his claim of accepting the Tivoli Commission of Enquiry recommendations will appear insincere.

The Public Defender has also demanded that the Police Commissioner provide more explanation about his decision to belatedly accept the report of the West Kingston Commission of Enquiry.
