Westmoreland's most wanted remanded on immigration, drug charges in Cayman

Jamaican Obrian Ellis has been remanded in the Cayman Islands on immigration and drug charges pending a hearing in two weeks.

Ellis, one of Westmoreland's most wanted men was arrested in the Cayman Islands on Friday and has been charged with one count of illegal landing and ganja possession.

The 29-year-old man Farm Pen district Westmoreland, did not enter a plea when he appeared before a Caymanian court yesterday.

If he pleads guilty it is believed he will be sentenced and deported.

The Jamaican police have already said they will be seeking to have him returned to the island.

Ellis is wanted for arson and the murder of 44-year-old chef, Steadman Sterling of Farm Pen district in Westmoreland in December 2016.

It is reported that Sterling and Ellis were involved in a dispute when Ellis used a firearm to shoot Sterling several times.

Ellis later fled the country.
