Guardsman Games just days away

The iDrade-sponsored team 876 Crossfit gets ready for the Beep challenge during the Guardsman Games eliminations earlier this month.

Can you feel the excitement building? There are just a few days to go before the second staging of the most gruelling and physically challenging showdown on the local calendar. Saturday, September 2, starting at 10 a.m., will be the semi-finals of the highly anticipated Guardsman Games, at the Hope Zoo in St Andrew. Then, it will be time for The Guardsman Challenge on Sunday, September 3, starting at 7 a.m.

The Guardsman Gam-es is an obstacle-course race and team-challenge event designed to promote the core values of the Guardsman Group, including family, healthy lifestyles, bringing communities together and raising much-needed funds to empower youth, while providing assistance to the critically ill and children in need.

According to Sheila Benjamin-McNeill, group director of public relations and advertising: "It will be two days of family fun, camaraderie and excitement. For the participants, it is a challenge to build confidence, courage, will-power, mental tough-ness and, of course, a chance to win a prize."

Entrance to the Hope Zoo for spectators is $1,500 per day or $2,500 for both days.

All proceeds from the games will go towards the JDF/Guardsman Hope Zoo Project, the Bustamante Hospital for Children, and the Hope Zoo Environmental Programmes.
