Tropical Storm Katia forms in the Gulf of Mexico

The Met Service has informed that a third storm is now active in the Atlantic.

However, its says the center of Tropical Storm Katia is expected to remain offshore Mexico through Friday morning.

The Met Service says it is continuing to monitor Tropical Storm Jose, which is expected to become a hurricane by tonight.

Jose is moving toward the west near 20 kilometres per hour.  

The Met Service says a slightly faster west to west-northwest motion is expected during the next two days.

Neither of these storms is currently a threat to Jamaica.
