Southern parishes placed on Flash Flood Watch

Published:Sunday | September 10, 2017 | 12:00 AM

A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for low-lying and flood-prone areas of southern parishes.

In its 5 p.m. forecast today, the Met Service says sections of mainly southern parishes will experience moderate to heavy and sometimes very heavy rainfall tonight into tomorrow.

It says weather conditions are being influenced by a trough induced by Hurricane Irma across the western Caribbean.

The Flash Flood Watch will remain until 5:00 a.m tomorrow.

A Flash Flood Watch means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures.

Persons should keep informed by listening to further releases from the Meteorological Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a warning is issued.
