Cassava Piece man charged with illegal gun, ammo possession
The police have charged a St Andrew man with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
He is 22-year-old Everton Brown, otherwise called ‘Eva’, a labourer of Glen Drive, Cassava Piece.
Reports from the Constant Spring Police are that about 10:25 in the morning Brown was accosted at the intersection of Cassie Lane and Glen Drive in Cassava Piece, Kingston 8 and searched.
According to the police, a silver 9 millimetre pistol, along with a magazine containing thirteen 9 millimetre rounds of ammunition was taken from him.
He was subsequently arrested and charged.
Brown is scheduled to appear before the Kingston and St Andrew parish court on Friday, October 6.
A police-military operation in Salt Spring, Quarry in St James yesterday led to the seizure of several rounds of ammunition.
Reports from the Montego Bay Police are that about 5:45 in the afternoon an unoccupied board and zinc structure was searched and a magazine containing 29 5.56 rounds of ammunition were found in the roof.
No arrests were made.
Investigations continue into both incidents.
