Police Detective Constable David Oxford, who was accused of stealing a cellphone from a murder scene in St Thomas, has been freed.

The case against Oxford was dismissed in the St Thomas Parish Court on Wednesday.

He was charged with larceny and receiving stolen property.

His attorney Hensley Williams submitted that the prosecution failed to make a case against the policeman.

The court upheld the submission and freed him.
