With one week down, this year's season of TVJ's Junior Schools' Challenge Quiz is already off to a great start. This week's teams are ready to go and promise to keep things electrifying as they try to stay in the competition.

To kick things off on Monday, Independence City All-Age will do battle with Jericho Primary to secure a spot in round two of the competition.

The second match for the week on Tuesday will see St George's Girls Primary facing off against Vaz Preparatory.

St George's Girls Primary returns to the competition after a 12-year hiatus, and the girls from Duke Street are excited about Tuesday's match and are eager to give their best. Last week, coach Lola Dawkins said the team was still in preparation mode. "We are coaching the girls to be the winners. The proof will be in the match. At the end of the match, we will see," Dawkins said.

Principal of Vaz Preparatory, Karlene Bisnott, said the Vaz team was working hard and would continue right up until match time. "The team of grade-six students is feeling excited and anxious about their match," she said.

Other matches to be played this week

- Spanish Town Primary and Naggo Head Primary go head-to-head on Wednesday.

- Former champions Windward Road Primary will take on Our Lady of the Angels Preparatory on Thursday.

- Friday's final match of the week takes place between Crescent Primary and Constant Spring Primary.
