Doreen Dyer, the St Thomas mother who was seen in a video beating her daughter with a machete, has pleaded guilty to cruelty to a child.

She was sentenced today to three years’ probation and ordered to undergo parenting and anger management classes.

The court said it took into consideration a social enquiry report before handing down sentencing.

Her attorney Bertram Anderson says he’s pleased with the court’s decision.

Dyer was charged by the police last year October and was subsequently offered bail.

The video shows the partially nude mother beating the girl violently with a machete while uttering expletives.
