PM's Jamaica 55 appreciation awards now set for April 25
Culture Minister Olivia Grange has announced April 25 as the new date for the Prime Minister’s Jamaica 55 Commemorative Medal of Appreciation Awards Ceremony.
The event will take place on the Lawns of Jamaica House, starting at 7p.m.
Grange said the Prime Minister’s Commemorative Medal of Appreciation Awards Ceremony was one of the main activities in the Jamaica 55 programme for celebrating and awarding outstanding Jamaicans.
Awards will be presented to individuals and groups (corporate or non-corporate) who, in the opinion of the prime minister, have made significant contributions to the development of the economic, social, cultural, or political fabric of Jamaica.
The culture minister said “the Awards Ceremony on April 25 will be a glittering affair in celebration of the awardees, some of whom are unsung heroes, who have sacrificed much and given so much towards to the development of Jamaica over the last 55 years.”
The evening will feature first-class entertainment by some of Jamaica’s outstanding performers, including the National Dance Theatre Company, Xaymaca Dance Company, ASHE Performing Arts Company, gospel artiste Jermaine Edwards, singing trio One Third, and the Jamaican Folk Singers.
