Hylton honoured with AMCHAM's 2018 President's Award

President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Commercial Bank (NCB) Financial Group, Patrick Hylton is this year’s recipient of the American Chamber of Commerce in Jamaica (AMCHAM) President’s Award.

The announcement was made in a statement released by AMCHAM today.

The President's Award is bestowed on a distinguished business leader and philanthropist who has contributed significantly to Jamaica’s development, AMCHAM explained.

Other Jamaican business leaders to have received the award include Diana Stewart, Chairman of Stewart’s Automotive Group and William Mahfood, Chief Executive Officer for the Wisynco Group of Companies.

“During the selection process, several factors were considered before making the decision to honour Patrick with this prestigious award,” Allison Peart, president of AMCHAM Jamaica, disclosed.

Chief among them, she said, were his contribution to the rehabilitation of Jamaica's financial sector and his work in transforming NCB into Jamaica's leading bank.

Peart also cited Hylton's contribution to the work of the Economic Growth Council and Economic Programme Oversight Committee.

Noting that philanthropy is a key criterion for the award, she indicated that much consideration was given to the NCB Group president’s commitment to improving the lives of others, "especially in education, through the NCB Foundation and as chairman of the Mona School of Business and Management."

“Indeed, his story as a business leader who is characterised by passion, perseverance and philanthropy made him the clear choice for the 2018 President’s Award,” she said.

Hylton is to receive the award at a gala scheduled for November 8.
