From motivation to motion - JN backs St Thomas-based programme
With a clear social mission to impact the socio-economic advancement in the parish of St Thomas especially,NexxStepp, Lifelong Educational Services promises its clients, whether young or old, a bold move 'From Motivation to Motion.'
The six-year-old organisation, which is now backed by the JN Foundation's Social Enterprise Boost Initiative, hosted its business launch and mingle last Thursday at the Golden Shore Resort in Lyssons, St Thomas.
NexxStepp currently offers educational services that fuse life coaching with academics, an unconventional approach which shifts student behaviour from underperforming to high achieving, according to the many testimonials featured at the launch event.
Founder and manager Tishauna Mullings told The Gleaner that the initiative promotes three main services, namely, the PREP-4-PEP Mobile Clinic; the Ready, Set, Go! Coaching for Teens and Young Adults; and the Cs of Century Corporate Workshop.
"The PREP-4-PEP Mobile Clinic basically, focuses on helping the young people to master skills that will allow them to master not only the exams, but beyond that. The sessions are very active, and there's a lot of engagement geared towards strengthening the four Cs - communication, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.
"Yes, of course, we do look at core areas such as math, social studies, and science, but our focus is building the core skills, which are the four Cs.
"The Ready, Set, Go! Coaching programme is for 15- to -25-year- olds to help them to better master life and to plan for their career.
"So 'Ready' is about mindset, 'Set' is about working out those practical plans through worksheets and activities, and 'Go' is actually us weaning the client so they can continue being successful beyond engagement with NexxStepp," she said.
Mullings said that the Cs of Century Corporate Workshop is ideal for corporate entities, training institutions, and government agencies and aims at providing well-timed intervention to motivate staff and build morale and creativity
According to Mullings, "It focuses on communication, conflict resolution, and customer service. These Cs, all together, can powerfully transform your organisation and increase profitability as well as preserve customers."
