Default judgment in 'Trinity' Gardener libel case against UWI lecturer
Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police Keith 'Trinity' Gardner today obtained a default judgment in the Supreme Court against University of the West Indies, Mona lecturer Christopher Ogunsalu arising from a libel suit he had brought against him.
Attorney-at-law Hugh Wildman, who is representing Gardner, said the defendant was served with the claim but he did not file a defence to the suit.
Wildman says he will now be applying to the court for a date for damages to be assessed.
Gardner, who is in charge of security on the campus, contends that in May this year an email was sent by the defendant to senior members of the university.
He claimed that he was devastated by the comments in the email and that his ability to perform his duties on campus was affected.
