Green promises to give priority to MSMEs

Newly appointed state minister in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Floyd Green, has promised to give priority to micro, small and medium enterprises.

Green, who was transferred from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information, says he will be exploring financial services, business strategies and related networks available to MSMEs as part of his new mandate.

Importantly, the new state minister for industry and commerce says he will be "forwarding critical legislations, as well as monitoring the improvement of Jamaica’s ranking in the ease of doing business".

As state minister for industry and commerce, Green will have responsibilities for the following agencies and divisions: Office of the Government Trustee (OGT), Hazardous Substances Regulatory Authority (HSRA), The Cannabis Licensing Authority (CLA), National Export-Import Bank of Jamaica (EXIM Bank), National Compliance and Regulatory Authority (NCRA), Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ), Companies Office of Jamaica (COJ), Consumer Affairs Commission (CAC), Fair Trading Commission (FTC), Jamaica Intellectual Property Office (JIPO), Jamaica National Agency for Accreditation (JANAAC), National Certification Body of Jamaica (NCBJ), Office of the Supervisor of Insolvency (OSI), Micro Investment Development Agencies (MIDA), Trade Board, Anti-Dumping and Subsidies Commission (ASC), Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC), Department of Co-operatives and Friendly Societies (DCFS) and the Food Storage and Prevention of Infestation Division.
