Picture perfect! - Amateur photographers urged to capture the best shots during Kingston City Run
The Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA) and its partners will host the seventh annual Kingston City Run, with the addition of a full marathon, on March 17. The Kingston City Run, marathon, half-marathon and 10k routes are IAAF/AIMS certified courses.
The start time is 4:30 a.m. for the marathon, half-marathon and 10k and 7 a.m. for the 5k run. There will be a spate of activities leading up to race day. Runners will get to enjoy the welcome party on Friday, March 15, and on Saturday, March 16, there will be a health expo that segues into a pre-race pasta party.
Come Sunday, March 17, race day, the runners will enjoy the picturesque views of iconic Kingston attractions.
This year, the event will be even more memorable as it will provide amateur photographers an opportunity to showcase their talent to a local and international audience.
The event has seen runners participating from the Caribbean, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Japan, Canada, China, the United States and, of course, Jamaica, among other countries.
With each individual perspective, photographers will be able to capture participants as they walk, run or wheel through the Fashion Zone, the Devon House Historic Zone, the King’s House Zone and the Reggae Zone.
The Kingston City Run was started in 2013, and the event is organised annually by the JHTA Kingston Chapter, along with key strategic partners, the Jamaica Tourist Board, the Norman Manley International Airport and the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation.
