Murder, shooting in Portland not politically connected - Police

The police are reporting that preliminary investigations into the shooting death of a man and the injuring of two others along West Street, Port Antonio, Portland yesterday have indicated that the incident is not politically connected.

The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Tevin McKenzie, unemployed of Halls Avenue, Port Antonio.

The police say about 11:45 p.m. all three were standing in front of a bar when they were approached by a gunman who opened fire hitting them.

They were taken to hospital where McKenzie was pronounced dead and the other two men admitted in stable condition.

The police are urging anyone who may have information that can assist in their investigations to contact 876- 993-2546, Crime Stop at 311, police 119 emergency number or the nearest police station.
