JDF to conduct training in Caymanas area, says there will be no live firing

The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) says no live ammunition will be fired during a series of training exercises scheduled to take place in and around the Caymanas area, in St Catherine this week.

However, the army is warning residents that in the event they find unexploded ordnances or paraphernalia they should report it to JDF headquarters at Up Park Camp, in St Andrew.

The training exercises are scheduled to start tomorrow and end next Saturday.

The JDF says there is no need for residents to be alarmed by the presence of soldiers in their communities “as the training exercises will not involve any live firing and therefore does not pose any danger.”

The army is also appealing to residents not to interfere with or move training aides.

It says members of the public who may have concerns about the presence of soldiers in their area can contact the JDF at telephone number (876) 960-8776.
