The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) says all is in place for the by-election in the Portland Eastern constituency scheduled on Thursday.

The EOJ says it has ensured the timely preparation and distribution of all materials necessary for conducting the polls, including training of Election Day workers.

Voting will take place in 127 polling stations across 49 voting locations.

Polls open at 7 a.m. and will close at 5 p.m., after which the preliminary counting of ballots will take place.

Candidates are being reminded that election campaigning ceases on Wednesday April 3, 24 hours before the start of polling on April 4.

There are 36,315 registered voters in the Portland Eastern Constituency.

Only electors registered to vote in this constituency will be allowed to vote in the upcoming election.

Electors who are still unclear where to vote may check the Electoral Commission of Jamaica’s website at www.ecj.com.jm and click on “Query Voters’ List” to find out at which polling station they are to cast their ballots.

Electors are being reminded to take their voters’ identification card to the polling station and that the use or display of cell phones and cameras is not allowed inside polling stations.
