Cops target errant motorcyclists
The police are warning motorcyclists that failure to ensure that their vehicles are registered and operating within the parameters of their prescribed licences will result in seizure.
This warning comes in the wake of the seizure of 16 motorbikes during a joint operation by officers assigned to the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch and the St Andrew North Division between April 24 and May 1. The operation was as a result of public-safety issues arising from the disregard of the Road Traffic Act by some motorists, including motorcyclists.
The vehicles were seized for various offences, including not being licensed and having no registration plates affixed. Drivers are reminded that if the various operating criteria are not met, this will result in the seizure of the vehicle and the prosecution of the offender.
