Man arrested for illegal firearm seized in Hanover

A man was arrested on Sunday following the seizure of a Ruger pistol with a magazine containing seven rounds of ammunition on the Ramble main road in Hanover.
The Ramble police say about 1 a.m., lawmen were conducting a vehicular check point operation in the area when the driver of a motorcycle was signalled to stop.
He was searched and the weapon was reportedly found in his possession.
He was subsequently arrested on reasonable suspicion of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
His identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
