#JAVOTES2024 | I was not asked to change my JLP shirt, says Holness

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has denied that he was asked to change his Jamaica Labour Party (JLP)-branded shirt when he turned up to cast his vote this morning.

Holness and wife, Speaker of the House Juliet Holness, arrived at Mona High School in St Andrew at minutes to 10 a.m. to cast their ballots in the local government elections.

But while the two waited in line at PD 35, Holness, who was surrounded by media personnel, indicated that he would change his shirt before leaving briefly.

He returned in a blue button-up in which he voted but subsequently changed back into his JLP-branded shirt.

"We know that that would be the mischief. No one asked me to change my shirt. No one," he emphasised.

"I decided to change my shirt so that there would not be any criticism that I went into a polling station with my political shirt," he added.

He said his change of wardrobe indicates that he travels prepared.
