The Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) has charged that the Government has opted to end the parliamentary year a week earlier than planned to delay the tabling of the Integrity Commission’s (IC) annual report.

The IC was established by law to enforce Jamaica’s anti-corruption laws.

By law, it’s annual report to Parliament must be tabled by June 30, Opposition Senator Donna Scott Mottley noted.

Scott Mottley said Parliament was scheduled to end on July 2.

“But suddenly now every thing rush up and Parliament is ending on the 24th of June,” she told party supporters at a political rally in Papine, St Andrew, on Wednesday.

“What are they hiding from? Why are they locking down the Parliament before the 30th of June when they had planned for the 2nd of July?” she questioned.

The IC revealed, in its last two annual reports to Parliament that several parliamentarians are under investigation for illicit enrichment.

The IC disclosed in a media release on Thursday afternoon that it has submitted to Parliament its Annual Report for the 2024/2025 Financial Year, ending March 31, 2025.

It said the document, which is its seventh annual report, was formally received and signed for at the Parliament on Thursday at 1:47 p.m.

"The Commission anticipates that its Annual Report will be tabled in the Parliament as soon as possible. Once the Report is tabled, it will be published on the Commission’s website," the Integrity Commission said.

Gordon House has indicated that the scheduled meeting of the Senate is to be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m.

The report could still be tabled in the Senate.

When the House of Representatives met on Tuesday, Leader of Government Business Edmund Bartlett indicated that the House was being adjourned for "a date to be fixed".
