The Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ) will host an in-person public speaking and presentation skills workshop on Wednesday, July 27.

The six-hour course will begin at 9 a.m. and be led by award-winning journalist and public speaking coach, Janella Precius, an experienced television and radio news anchor with over two decades’ experience in media and communications.

The course will explore the fundamentals of public speaking with emphasis placed on preparation, practice and presentation skills in helping participants become more effective public speakers. The seminar will also examine the fears of public speaking and explore methods in which speakers can channel their anxiety into improving their delivery.

Additionally, the course will offer concepts and demonstrations surrounding the importance of key elements of speaking publicly, including body language, storytelling techniques, preparing for media interviews and knowing your audience. Participants will also be given opportunities to display techniques they have been taught and receive feedback on how to better their speaking ability.
