An ecstatic Rashad Smikle (right), first prize winner in the CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank 'Proud Jamaican' Photo Competition, celebrates with the bank’'s managing director, Nigel Holness at the presentation.

He says he's not a professional photographer but Rashad Smikle's entry in the CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank's 'Proud Jamaican Photo Competition' copped him first prize.

Smikle, a student with his eyes set on entering university next year, was 'ecstatic' to learn that he had won a weekend for four at any Beaches property in Jamaica, and that his winning photograph will be displayed as the cover photo on CIBC FirstCaribbean's Jamaica Facebook and Twitter pages. What's more, a framed photo of his winning entry will enjoy place of pride on the bank's Knutsford Boulevard, Kingston office.

Smikle says he was browsing Facebook when he saw the proud Jamaican photo competition pop up. He immediately responded to the call to action, posting his entry on the bank's facebook page. His entry was short listed as one of those with the most engagement (shares and likes) and submitted to a judging panel.

Smikle's photo shows a beautiful sunset over Bluefields Westmoreland.

The CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank 'Proud Jamaican Photo Competition' called for a photo of a scenic landscape or cityscape showcasing the beauty of Jamaica to be posted on the bank's Twitter and Facebook pages during the period August 3 - September 11, 2015.
