Jamaica Yellow Pages foodie seminar

Rasheed Girvan, digital manager for Jamaica Yellow Pages, outlines the digital tools available to help restaurants increase their online visibility at the recent Yellow Pages Restaurant Business Seminar on November 2 at Spanish Court hotel.

On November 2 and 10, the Jamaica Yellow Pages (JYP) conducted two restaurant business seminars to share strategies with restaurant owners to help them grow their businesses. The first seminar was held at the Spanish Court Hotel in Kingston and the second in Montego Bay at the Wexford Hotel.

The seminars focused on digital marketing solutions for the food-service industry as well as improving the customer experience in the industry.

Presenter Rasheed Girvan, digital manager for the JYP, shared that a staggering 80,000 searches are carried out per month on Google by persons in Jamaica in search of places to dine on the island. This fact compounds the reality that if restaurants do not have an online presence, they are limiting the potential opportunities to increase their profits.

Dr Nsombi Jaja, Dream Builder and customer-service expert, also emphasised that restaurant owners needed to pay close attention to their employees needs since their interactions with patrons can make or break the reputation of any food-service entity. She encouraged participants, most of whom were restaurant owners, to be responsive to the information provided by their team members towards improving customer service to patrons.

The JYP is on a campaign to show entrepreneurs the ease with which their businesses can grow by utilising the company's range of digital products such as web sites and search-engine marketing. Of equal importance is providing excellent customer service through the delivery of a first-class dining experience as this undoubtedly increases repeat business and referrals.
