No ease up, says MoBay's Weatherly

Montego Bay United coach Dean Weatherly relegated last week's 3-1 triumph over Waterhouse Football Club in the first leg semi-final to history but will be gunning for an even better performance from his charges when both teams meet at the Montego Sports Complex this evening.

"There is no relaxation. Monday night is history and that is one page written. It will be a new ball game come Sunday," said Weatherly, the man who guided Montego Bay to their first hold of the Premier League title under their new name.

He added: "It will be a different scenario. We will come again to play quality football and the Montego Bay United fans should be there to enjoy some great football".

Weatherly was not the only one promising to put on a show. Alan Ottey, the man who opened the scoring and the team's offensive spark, Dino Williams, did likewise. Williams in fact said he was not at his best as he was only coming back from injury.

"It sets us up nicely for the next game, and I can tell you that you will see a different Dino Williams then. You will see one who is hungry for goals.

WILL NOT BACK DOWN

"We will not back down. We can't let up. We have one foot in the final so we will go out there and seal it up," said a confident Williams who scored five goals in the semi-final and the final last season.

At the start of the season, Waterhouse Football Club pledged to banish the terrible memory of the humiliation they suffered in the final by claiming the title this season. They recommitted to that pledge following the embarrassment they suffered when they were unable to get off the ground in Montego Bay to compete in the CONCACAF Champions League. They seemed well on their way with impressive wins until they came up against Montego Bay United, a team they had not previously lost to this season.

"With the quality of our team with players like Romario Campbell, Tramaine Stewart, Jermain 'Tuffy' Anderson, Nicholi Finlayson and Richard McCallum, we have the quality and the depth to come back.

"We just have to keep our heads up and play positive football," an optimistic assistant coach Marcel Gayle said of his team's chances of overturning the deficit and advancing to the final.

For Waterhouse to do so, Nicholi Finlayson, in particular, would have to show up, as in Monday's game, he was more of a lost sheep than a man shepherding his team's back line. They were also weak in the left back and could not cope with the pace and trickery of Ottey and Williams who took turns in exposing Waterhouse's lack of quality in that area. The discipline of Evan Taylor was also questionable as he seemed more intent on hurting the opposition physically than with the quality of football he has displayed earlier in the season.
