Fraser-Pryce leads Jamaican four through to women's 100m semis
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was the joint fastest in qualifying for the women’s 100m semi-finals, as all four Jamaicans progressed to the next round scheduled for Monday at 6:40 a.m.
Fraser-Pryce, who is hunting her third 100m world championship title, looked smooth as she stopped the clock at 10.88 (wind +2.3).
Veronica Campbell-Brown also booked her place after finishing second in her heat with a time of 11.04 with the American Tori Bowie winning comfortably in 10.88 (wind +0.5).
Natasha Morrison ran hard in her heat to finish second in a time of 11.08, just 100th of a second behind winner Blessing Okagbare (11.07).
Jamaica’s other competitor Sherone Simpson also qualified from her heat after finishing third in a time of 11.22 with Trinidad and Tobago’s Kelly-Ann Baptiste winning in 11.13.
