Parchment takes silver in 110m hurdles, McLeod ends sixth
Hansle Parchment, delivered Jamaica’s eighth medal at the IAAF World Championship when he won silver in the 110m hurdles.
Recovering fast from his usual sluggish start, Parchment finished like a train on the tracks to run a season best 13.03 behind Russian Sergey Shubenkov who won the event in a national record of 12.98 seconds.
The Racer’s track club athlete has now added a World Championship medal to his Olympic bronze medal .
"I'm happy for this medal but not so much about the performance. I think I can still do a lot better at the start," he told The Gleaner's Andre Lowe.
In a final that was a sprint from start to finish, National Champion Omar McLeod hit some of the barriers in his lane and finished sixth in a time of 13.18.
Parchment is the first Jamaican to win a silver medal in the 110m hurdles.
