Passagefort United wins fifth title

Passagefort United retained their title - their fifth overall - in the final of the Colin Fagan-sponsored South East St Catherine Constituency Domino League, at Edgewater Community Centre, last Sunday. Passagefort defeated arch-rivals Ken's Wildflower 250-233 in an exciting encounter.

Passagefort, which led by 21 points (127-106) at half-time, survived a couple of mini runs by their opponents in second-half action before cruising to victory in the latter stages of the match. At the end of the match, Member of Parliament for South East St Catherine, Fagan, handed over the winners' trophy and a cheque for $60,000.

Second-place Ken's Wildflower pocketed $30,000, third-place Waterford $15,000; while fourth-place Westchester Rising Stars collected $10,000.

Fagan said the competition affords him a forum where he can speak one-on-one with some members of his constituency. He also said that persons from different social and political backgrounds are able to interact thus unearthing lasting friendships

Red Stripe will this weekend sponsor the two-day Ultimate B & C class (Handicap) pool tournament at the Hot Shots Sports Bar and Grill, 120 Constant Spring Road, today and tomorrow, starting at 4:00 p.m. on both days.

The tournament offers a first prize of $50,000 and trophy, second $16,000 and trophy, third $8,000 and trophy and fourth $4,000.

Players finishing from fifth to eighth place will each receive $2,500 and from ninth to 16th place, $1,500.

Jamalco dominate BH cricket

Defending champions Jamalco are kings of Business House cricket once again,

having beaten W.B. Foundation by six wickets in the recent Western Sports/Reggae Jammin 50-over final at the Red Stripe Oval to retain the trophy.

Jamalco, with exciting young players such as Pete Salmon and Tino Osbourne in their line-up, dismissed W.B. Foundation for 100 in 36 overs. Errol Thomas took four wickets for 11 runs as JDF Senior Cup player Rasheed Ottar top-scored with 43.

Jamalco replied with 103 for four as Thomas capped a fine all-round performance with 44.

Earlier, Jamalco defeated NHT in the limited overs KO final at the Red Stripe Oval to retain the first of their two titles. The team is captained by all-rounder Kirk Gordon.

Lamey's hat-trick leads Scotia to Champion of Champions title

A hat-trick by former national striker Kevin Lamey piloted league champions Scotiabank to a resounding 6-0 win over KO champions NCB in the Western Sports/JNBS Norman Goodison Inter-Bank Champion of Champions final at Winchester Park, St George's College, last Sunday.

Lamey opened the scoring in the 19th minute, having latched on to a cross from Kenroy Howell and shot past goalkeeper Levor Williams.

The former Waterhouse striker made it 2 - just two minutes later - and completed the hat-trick early in the second half, while the rout continued with Howell scoring in the 75th minute, Kemar Cummings in the 86th and Raymond Williamson joined the party a minute later. Lamey capped the Man of the Match Award.

Classic final

Red-hot Spit Fyah go into the Jamaica Domino Council Association final full of confidence as they face arch-rivals Caribbean Classic at Portmore HEART College of Construction Services in Portmore tomorrow, starting at 11 a.m.

Spit Fyah, captained by Javlin James, the former captain of multiple champions Caribbean Classic, have beaten Classic twice this season; once in League action and the other in the mid-season final. The Classic team is captained by Rupert Pryce.

In semi-final action, last Sunday. Spit Fyah turned back Waterhouse United 300-253, while Caribbean Classic trampled Giants 300-196.

Braeton outshoot Edgewater 4-3

Braeton United outshot Edgewater 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller as action got under way in the York Pharmacy-sponsored Portmore Division Two Knock-out football competition last Sunday.

In other games, Racing United eliminated Daytona 1-0, Cedar Grove had a similar 1-0 win over Waterford, while Cumberland booted out Southborough 7-6 on penalties after regulation and extra time couldn't break the 2-2 deadlock.

Portmore Division Two League returns

The York Pharmacy-sponsored Portmore Division Two Football League returns with four matches between today and tomorrow.

At Racing Field today, newcomers Portmore United's Under-20 squad take on Racing United at 3 p.m. There is a scheduled double-header at the Cedar Grove Sports Complex. At 1 p.m. Braeton United oppose Daytona and at 3 p.m. Cedar Grove tackle Southborough.

The league had been paused to facilitate the knockout competition.

South East St Catherine Netball League

The constituency of South East St Catherine (SES) is again buzzing after the launch of a netball league, which is a collaborative effort between the member of parliament for SES and the Social Development Commission.

In recent games, Westchester humbled Pro-Santos A 27-6 and Pro-Santos B rolled over Express All-Stars 18-8. Games continue today and tomorrow.

Lincoln 'Happy' Sutherland KO

The St Catherine FA Lincoln 'Happy' Sutherland Knockout football competition's first round continues today with five matches. Dunbeholden host Watson Grove in an all-Portmore clash at Dunbeholden, Portsmouth welcome De La Vega City at Portsmouth Primary, Christian Pen entertain Hellshire United at Christian Pen; Royal Lakes await East Portmore Portals at Lime Tree Oval and McCooks Pen battle Bodles at McCooks Pen. All games begin at 3 p.m.

Rivoli United are the defending champions for the competition, which was launched on Thursday night. The competition is named in honour of 'Happy' Sutherland, a former president of the St Catherine Football Association.
