Vaz still in front at Prep Champs

Vaz Preparatory are still in front going into today's final day of the three-day Tastee National Preparatory Schools Track and Field Championships at the National Stadium. Vaz, who last won the title in 2005, lead the standings with 47 points after six finals. Defending champions Hydel are second on 43. They are followed by Mona (35), Quest (30.5), Stella Morris (11), Our Lady of the Angels (10), Mount St Joseph (nine), Sts Peter and Paul (seven), Portmore Missionary (6.5) and Belair (six).

Vaz's Misha-Jade Samuels won the girls' Class One high jump with a leap of 1.50m. Quest's Justina Butler (1.40m) was second while Lori Choy of Mona, who also cleared (1.40m) was third.

Choy captured the girls' Class One long jump with a mark of 4.93m ahead of Vaz's Jounee Armstrong (4.90m) and Rhejinae Mattis of Hydel (4.80m).

Hydel's Zico Bennett won the boys' Class One long jump with a leap of 5.29m. Ravaughn Rainford of Mona (5.02m) and Hydel's Meshach Waugh (4.92m) were second and third respectively.

The Class Two girls high jump was very exciting. The top four jumpers all cleared 1.25m. However, victory went to Ali-Kaye Nelson of Quest, who achieved the mark on her first attempt. The silver medal went to Mellia Perry of Portmore Missionary while Davine Dickenson, also of Quest. earned bronze.
