Ja's girls in beach football final at CYG

Jamaica's female beach footballers have booked their place in the gold medal match at the Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas after securing their third straight win of the tournament yesterday. They whipped Turk and Caicos 11-2.

In their opening game on Wednesday, Jamaica turned back the host nation 15-2. They then faced off against Trinidad and Tobago in a decisive game on Thursday, with the twin island republic boasting two wins from as many games. The Reggae Girlz stopped their opponents 5-2 to gain the upper hand in the group, and then sealed their place in the grand final with yesterday/s win.

Meanwhile, Jerone Ennis, Jamaica's only boxing representative, continued his progress after advancing to the semi-finals of the 69kg category after scoring a walkover victory over Nigeria's Obono Uket in their quarter-final match yesterday.

Both Ennis and Uket received byes from the first round to earn their place in the quarter-finals. Ennis will now face England's Anthony Johnston in semi-final two this afternoon starting at 2 p.m.
