WINNIPEG, Manitoba, CMC – Guyana’s Rohan Singh closed the gap on leader Adolfo Morales with a double while Jamaican Tyrone Nelson also landed a brace here Wednesday to ensure the top four at Assiniboia Downs remained a tight affair.

Singh rode winners in race two over seven furlongs with 6-1 bet Cowboysteviewonder and in the final event of the seven-race card with 2-1 chance Felino.

Nelson, meanwhile, captured race three over six furlongs with 2-1 choice Orbit Express before taking race six in another six-furlong trip with 22-1 long-shot String Puppet.

Singh lies second on 25 wins, five adrift of Morales with Kayla Pizarro third on 24 and Nelson on fourth on 20.

Defending champion, Barbadian Chris Husbands, languishes in fifth on 19 wins.

Nelson notched his first win when he brought eight-year-old gelding Orbit Express from off the pace to beat the three-year-old and upwards by a length.

He then produced an upset aboard four-year-old gelding String Puppet, coming from a stalking position to pass leaders Budlitelarry and This Cat’s Awesome at the sixteenth pole and dominate the late going.
