DIAMOND LEAGUE: Russell takes third place and looks forward to Commonwealth Games
Alexander Stadium, BIRMINGHAM: Janieve Russell came third in the Women’s 400m Hurdles at the Diamond League in Birmingham in 54.67seconds, behind Zuzana Hejnova and Dalilah Muhammad.
She said: “I think the race went fairly well. I wanted to do a faster time but it didn’t come today. My season is going pretty good. I have been very consistent. I have been running 54seconds all season. I did not make the World Championship team so I came her to run a faster time.”
On the missing out of the World Championship team she added: “I was very disappointed but looked past it and just came out here to perform. My plan next season is to make the team and go faster.”
The former World Junior Champion and 4x400 relay gold medallist from the last commonwealth games was asked which competition she would be concentrating on next season and she said: “My plan is to run at the Commonwealth games. I hope to medal and I hope to achieve a personal best.
