Another outstanding half-century from Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara has piloted Jamaica Tallawahs to 157 for five in their Hero Motorcorp Caribbean Premier League showdown with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at Sabina Park.

Sangakarra slammed three sixes and two fours in scoring 69 before he was dismissed in the 19th in the hunt for the sixth win for the Tallawahs.

Losing the toss, and asked to take first strike, the Tallawahs got off to the worst possible start when Lendl Simmons was bowled off the first ball of the match by left-arm seamer, Jamaican Sheldon Cottrell.

This brought together New Zealand opener Glenn Phillips and Sangakkara and together the duo put on an entertaining 80 for the second wicket.

Phillips, however, departed in the 12th opener when he was caught off the bowling of impressive off-spinner Mohammad Nabi for 31.

Sangakkara then put of 44 for the fourth wicket with Rovman Powell to provide some late order impetus to the innings.

Powell, who was dismissed off the last ball of innings bowled by Jamaican Sheldon Cottrell, made a quickfire 43 off 26 balls.

This included two fours and three sixes, two of which came off the fourth and fifth ball of the final over.

Andre McCarthy, two off six balls, and Guyanese batsman Jonathan Foo, one not out off two balls, were the other batsman utilized.

Cottrell finished with two for 38 off his maximum four overs to end as the Patriots premier bowler.
