West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite and his opening partner John Campbell posted an unbroken half century stand to lead a strong reply for the regional side against Bangladesh at the close of day one of the second Test in St Lucia.

When stumps were drawn, the West Indies were on 67 without loss replying to Bangladesh's first innings score of 234. John Campbell is not out on 32 while Brathwaite is unbeaten on 30, as the home side trails by 167 runs with all their wickets intact.

Earlier, pacer Alzarri Joseph and Jayden Seales bagged three wickets each to restrict the visitors on the opening day. Debutant pacer Anderson Phillip weighed in with two wickets, so too did Kyle Mayers. Liton Das top-scored with 53 while opener Tamim Iqbal made 46. Number ten batsman Shoriful Islam chipped win with a quick-fire 26 from 17 balls with five fours.
