CG2022 | Gold for Jamaica's Ricketts in women's triple jump
Jamaica’s Shanieka Ricketts followed up her silver medal at the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon by capturing the gold medal in the women’s triple jump at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England on Friday.
Ricketts’ first-round mark of 14.94 metres won the gold medal, as Dominica’s Thea Lafond captured silver with 14.39 and England’s Naomi Metzger bronze, with a personal best of 14.37.
Jamaica’s Kimberly Williams with a best effort of 14.25 metres finished in fourth place, while Ackelia Smith finished sixth with a best jump of 13.83.
