CURLIN’S AFFAIR, ridden by Tevin Foster, wins the Security Department Trophy over five furlongs straight, a three-year-old and upwards Overnight Allowance Stakes, at Caymanas Park yesterday.

CURLIN’S AFFAIR stormed from off the pace to nab 8-1 shot PRNCSSHOOTINGSTAR stealing home in yesterday’s Security Department Trophy race at five furlongs straight, sealing a two-timer for trainer Anthony Nunes and jockey Tevin Foster.

Running from stall seven on the less-soggy stands’ side after mid-afternon showers punctuated the nine-race card, 5-2 chance CURLIN’S AFFAIR avoided the slush which bogged down 3-5 favourite MAKEUPARTIST, who chased PRNCSSHOOTINGSTAR from post-position three.

PRNCSSHOOTINGSTAR made a brave bid at her favourite trip but wilted close home in her first run among overnight-allowance company, going down by three-quarter lengths in 58.2.

TRACK BIAS

MAKEUPARTIST stayed on for third, not enjoying the slop with the track bias and underfoot conditions against her.

Foster and Nunes teamed up earlier in the afternoon to log their first winner, MANACO, who chased even-money favourite SNIPER MAN off the lead in the sixth event at five and a half furlongs, winning at odds of 2-1.

Champion trainer Jason DaCosta also saddled two winners, landing back-to-back races with three-year-old BOASEY in the second event and IANNAI LINKS in the third, both surviving stewards’ enquiries.

Racing continues at the weekend with Saturday-Sunday meets.
