As the famous song goes, 'Reunited and it feels so good.'

MILO is back onboard as title sponsors of the Western Relays, with the competition hosting its 44th staging set for Saturday, February 11 at the GC Foster College of Physical Education and Sport in St Catherine.

During the launch at the Deja Resort in Montego Bay, St James on Tuesday, Ray Harvey, chairman of the organising committee, said that as of today, Western Relays becomes the MILO Western Relays.

“We had a meet last year and it certainly wasn’t as grand as our meets usually are, because without MILO things were not the same. First of all, we will be close to filling the gap in the budget that is haunting us and our ability to pay our bills. With them coming on board it becomes a lot less difficult,” Harvey said.

Chevanne Lawrence, regional consumer marketing manager for MILO, said contrary to certain rumours, MILO had never walked away from Western Relays.

“We planned for MILO Western Relays almost three to six months prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, because it's that much of a big event we have to invest in. We really wanted to be a part of Western Relays and if you think about it, there is no Western Relays without MILO,” Lawrence explained.

“We just want to be here for the athletes, the teams and coaches to show that we are the energy food drink of champions,” he added.

Previously called 'Comets Relays', since 1978 the event has been held on the second Saturday of February each year.

The major sponsors include MILO, Sports Development Foundation, Jamaica Olympic Association, Custom Marble, and WATA.
