Atlantic Convoy makes light work of Milligram Trophy field
CHAMPION JOCKEY Dane Dawkins cruised into the lane aboard Patrick Lynch’s Canada-bred ATLANTIC CONVOY, dismissed ANONYMOUS’ challenge a furlong and a half out, proving by far the best in yesterday’s Milligram Trophy at seven and a half furlongs.
One of four maiden foreigners taking on local-breds, ATLANTIC CONVOY made the opposition look ordinary on his second start, handing Lynch his second winner of the afternoon, following FREEDOM STREET’s victory in the second.
IMPRESSIVE RUN
Returning treated with lasix after his gentle introduction at five furlongs straight on February 4, ATLANTIC CONVOY won like an out-of-class horse, clocking an impressive 1:33.2 and taking charge of the event two furlongs after leaving the gate.
ATLANTIC CONVOY won by four and a quarter lengths for Lynch, completing a two-timer for Dawkins and back-to-back wins for owner and Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited’s chairman, Solomon Sharpe, who landed the previous event with five-year-old debutant KWAKU.
Dawkins’ two-timer pulled him level on 17 winners with Reyan Lewis, second behind leading rider Tevin Foster, who logged a pair of wins, opening the nine-race card astride KISSMET and making all with four-year-old debutant TAKES TWO TO TANGO in the sixth.
Racing continues this morning with a 10-race card.
